FIND THE TEMPO: It’s always a good idea to find the tempo of your session, preferably before recording, definitely before mixing. Doing this will make editing tasks, such as copying hooks, much easier and will keep any echo/delay effects perfectly in time with the record.#ProducerTips #EngineeringTips

Don’t forget to breathe! And be intentional: plan when and how you’ll breathe in the songs you’re performing. Don’t let your voice “happen” to you. #SingingTips #Vocal

Keep Your Room Quiet | It is important, whether you are recording or mixing (at home or in a studio), to keep the room you are working in as quiet as possible. Most modern microphones will pick up even the quietest sounds, so make sure your speakers are turned down a bit, also make sure any A.C. units or any other noisy appliances are either off, or out of range of your microphone to pick up. Doing this will greatly improve your signal to noise ratio. #RecordingTips #Producer

Stephanie Kwolek, Inventor of Kevlar | You’re probably wondering what is Kevlar? Well if you have ever rocked a pair of Nike’s or Adidas, then you are probably familiar with the elasticity that Kevlar provides. Not only did Chemist Stephanie Kwolek unlock the keys to sneaker heaven, but she invented a solution that would keep our soldiers and police men safe while on the battlefield. Below are some of the life changing pieces her invention has created. I have listed only a few of the ways we are currently using Kevlar around the world:

Military Apparel:
Bulletproof Vests
Helmets
Body Armor
Gloves
Specialized Military Jackets and clothing articles

Musicians:
Kevlar is useful in acoustics in Loud Speakers; Bass & MidRange Units
Fiber Optic Cables such as ones used in Audio Data Transmissions
Bowed String Instruments
DrumHeads; It allows a high amount of tension, resulting in a cleaner sound.

Sports:
Tennis Racquets
Archery
Bicycle Tires
Athletic Gloves

If you ever used a non-stick pan, then chances are you understand the excellence of Kevlar as it is substituted for Teflon very often.

SMART PHONES Any One? Well if you have a smartphone chances are there is some Kevlar in your cellphone.

I could keep going, but I believe my point has been made. Women are great at anything we do…including SCIENCE!!!! Kudos to Stephanie Kwolek for creating one of the most used and amazing chemical solutions of our time.

The phenomenal film, 12 Years a Slave won big last night on the Oscars including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress.

An emotional speech from rising actress Lupita Nyong’o, was one of many that stood out from the others. “It doesnt escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s.” She ended her acceptance speech with “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, YOUR DREAMS ARE VALID. “
